Founded in 1882, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is an English Premier League Club, based in North
London. Led by the late great Bill Nicholson, the Club became the first in England to win the League and FA Cup
Double in1961, and the first in the UK to win a European Trophy two years later. Spurs has since been
home to some of the game's great entertainers, including Jimmy Greaves, Glenn Hoddle, Paul
Gascoigne, David Ginola, Gareth Bale, Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane.
In April 2019, the Club opened an iconic new stadium that sits at the heart of a £1 billion sport-led
regeneration of North Tottenham. The stadium is the largest football club stadium in London and is a
multi-use venue with the ability to host a variety of events 365 days a year, including NFL, boxing, rugby,
concerts, and other major events, plus visitor attractions including Stadium Tours and the Dare Skywalk.

JOB PURPOSE
Contribute to the achievement of the aims and objectives of THFC through the management of best
practice MSS support across the men's and women's
To ensure full integration of MSS disciplines across the club within league and medical regulations
Lead the recruitment and continued professional development of all MSS staff, including the maintenance
of individual personal development reviews and appraisals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Department leadership:
To develop and oversee the MSS performance strategy that integrates into the vision and structure of the
club.
To align and maintain the MSS key performance indicators and services to the objectives in the clubs
strategic plan.
To ensure the continued development of best practice within all areas of MSS throughout the football
club including governance, compliance, and risk.
Provide leadership in the continued development of the MSS staff.
Drive a culture of Safeguarding throughout the department working with key stakeholders to deliver the
Safeguarding Strategy for MSS.
Department management:
To oversee all MSS staff and practices across the football club.
To ensure close liaison and excellent lines of communication between the MSS department the coaching
staff, and executive leadership team.
To develop and distribute regular reports to key stakeholders.
Lead the recruitment and continued professional development processes of all MSS staff, including the
maintenance of individual personal development reviews and appraisals
Oversee and facilitate MSS research projects within the football club to underpin developing models of
practice.
Liaise with appropriate operation staff to continually develop and manage MSS facilities and equipment.
Oversee the creation of secure data systems to store and protect all medical and sport science data.
Contribute to the annual operating and financial reports for the MSS department.
Liaise with all relevant departments within the football club and the THFC Board of Directors.
Direct the latest research findings into clear and practical recommendations across the club.
Champion the Club's DEI strategy and initiatives, working with the MSS team to interweave DEI practices
into MSS processes and procedures.
MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
Specific Experience:
Either:
A post graduate qualification within the areas of Medical (eg. general practice, physiotherapy,
orthopaedic medicine). OR
A post graduate qualification within the disciplines of Sport Science (eg. physiology, biomechanics,
psychology, strength and conditioning)
Extensive experience in the management of MSS support within high performance This should include
experience of working within 1st team professional football.
Extensive experience working as a practitioner within multi-discipline MSS teams.
Extensive experience liaising with football players, coaches, and sporting directors to deliver successful
sport science and medical programmes.
Extensive experience of reporting directly to executive leadership and board members for the
responsibility of MSS departments.
Experience in developing and implementing a continued professional development strategy for a MSS
department in high performance sport.
Extensive experience in coach and athlete education in high performance sport.
Extensive experience in conducting scientifically underpinned assessment monitoring and evaluation
Includes the research and development of equipment and test protocols.
Experience of developing world class medical and sport science facilities.
Experience of using data management systems to ensure the secure and efficient storage of monitoring
and evaluation data.
Extensive experience of securing and managing budgets.
Desirable
General Medical Council or Health and Care Professional Council
Extensive experience of having worked within other professional sports.
Experience of working within teams qualified for the Champions League and Europa League.
Experience of working within male and female sports.
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:
An excellent understanding of the various aspects of MSS that relate to the care and development of elite
male and female football players.
A very good understanding of scientific methods of researching and developing assessment, monitoring,
and evaluation protocols within an elite sport environment.
An understanding of the skills required across the clinical and practical aspects of MSS disciplines.
Excellent presentation and communication skills that can motivate behavioural change to have a positive
impact on performance.
Ability to develop productive relationships with other staff members, football players and their parents.
Ability to manage high personal workloads and the high workloads of colleagues.
Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
