The Football Association (The FA) is the governing body of football in England. We are responsible for promoting and developing the game at all levels; from grass roots through to the professional game, The FA Cup and the England International teams, and has two core assets: Wembley Stadium and St George’s Park.

This is a unique and exciting time to join The FA and the Technical Team will be integral to the organisation achieving its goals.
To be responsible for the development and implementation of a Physical Performance and Nutrition strategy and delivery across all England Para Teams and within the Talent Pathway. The main focus of this role includes: Managing Physical Performance and Nutrition provision within the England Para Teams and Talent Pathway. Monitoring and evaluation of Physical Performance and Nutrition provision. Support the classification and eligibility strategy with the Chief Medical Lead for all impairment specific formats of the game.
Liaising with key principle partners/stakeholders involved in the classification process. To contribute to the strategic direction and overall objectives of the England Para Teams and Talent Pathway by providing Physical and nutrition advice and assistance as agreed with the Head of Performance – Para or National Talent Pathway Manager.
As this is a national role, it is likely that suitable candidates will be expected to travel extensively and stay away overnight.
Strategically manage a physical performance and nutrition programme to ensure a coherent, effective and efficient service is provided to all impairment specific groups within the England Para Teams and Talent Pathway. Support and develop with the Chief Medical Lead the implementation of eligibility and classification processes in the England Para Teams and Talent Pathway. Manage programme and oversee the quality of on camp and individual off camp Physical Performance and Nutrition provision to players. Design a testing and monitoring strategy and produce reports on para player attainment and progression Produce and coordinate regular reports with regards to the progress of identified Para teams and players.
Develop relationships with HE institutions and facilitate combined recruitment and research activities across physical performance Support/oversee the PPC for the Talent Pathway in developing an age, stage and impairment curriculum that aligns to elite performance Develop relationships with TASS practitioners and TACS and align physical performance activity to outcomes in player IDPs' Support the implementation of a biomechanical screening process within key cohorts of the Talent Pathway' To work closely with the Head of Performance - Para to provide Physical Performance and Nutrition support to identified GB athletes and work closely with the Home Country National Disability Sports associations. Oversee and strategically determine research projects into Para Football. In collaboration with external contacts and individuals within The FA, publish and present new knowledge in order to enhance understanding of physical performance and nutrition.
Develop relationships with internal and external individuals/organisations to enable the development of Para football player with specific impairments. Attend national and regional meetings, workshops, training courses and visiting national and regional sites on occasion as appropriate. Internationally influence and work with The British Paralympic Association, International Federations to ensure the eligibility criteria and classification is fair and meets the demands of the impairment specific programmes within the England Para Teams and Talent Pathway. Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.
What we are looking for:
Hold an Under Graduate degree in Sports Science, Strength and Conditioning or related discipline UKSCA ASCC; BASES High Performance Accreditation UKAD accredited advisor
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Have at least 5 years' experience of working as a Sports Scientist, or Strength and Conditioning coach in
elite mainstream or disability sport.
A proven ability to build strong networks and relationships with external individual and partner organisations to manage and deliver project requirements.
Experience of managing projects.
IT skills, including a high level of competence using Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Competent at using GPS equipment and monitoring software.
Ability to communicate complex information in terms that are easily understood by a range of audiences.
An understanding of sports medicine and how it is integrated with sports performance.
Experience in critically appraising scientific methodology and data.
A strong adherence to the importance of promoting and supporting equality, safeguarding and antidoping in sport.
Ability to travel independently.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and observational skills.
Outstanding organisational, influencing and team management skills.
An ability to work under pressure, to balance conflicting demands and meet tight deadlines.
An ability to entertain new ideas and seize challenges that arise in a positive frame of mind.

Highly motivated with a passion for high performance sport.
Hold a Master's degree in Sports Science, Strength and Conditioning or related discipline.
Registered as a national classifier by an International Federation.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Experience of supporting elite Para Sport during international competition.
Knowledge of the structure and organisations within The FA.
Budget management skills.
Experience and knowledge of classification and eligibility procedures.
Understanding of the 4-corner model for football.
Knowledge of talent identification in disability football.
Successful candidate must hold a full, clean, valid driver's license.
