Appointment of the next Chair of the SEPAR Advisory Group
22nd November 2021
Further to open recruitment last month for applications to be the next Chair of the Sport and Exercise Psychology Accreditation Route Advisory Group (SEPAR AG), we are pleased to announced that Dr Robert Morris has been appointed.
Rob is HCPC registered and is a Professional Member of BASES. He is BASES Accredited, Chartered Scientist and SEPAR and Supervised Experience supervisor and reviewer. He is the Interim Deputy Head of Sport and Lecturer in Sport Psychology at the University of Stirling.
From next month, Rob will work closely with the current Chair, Prof Richard Thelwell FBASES to understand the breadth of the role and he will observe the next SEPAR Advisory Group meeting in January. Rob will then fully lead the SEPAR AG from March 2022, formally taking over from Richard, and he will chair the following SEPAR AG meeting in July 2022.
Commenting on his tenure as SEPAR AG Chair, Professor Richard Thelwell FBASES said, “The experience of chairing the SEPAR, from its initial inception to having nearly 100 registered candidates, and to have had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful people [far too many to name] who have been so supportive throughout, has made it one of the most rewarding roles I have completed in my career. With SEPAR alumni now being represented on the Advisory Group, I feel that now is the right time to step away to enable new leadership and fresh ideas for the next phase of the SEPAR journey. With Rob taking the reins, the SEPAR is in excellent hands. Rob is a vastly experienced Chair, has a wealth of reviewing and supervisory experience, and has a clear interest in practitioner development and training. I look forward to seeing the SEPAR continue to grow and wish him the very best for his tenure as Chair".
Commenting on his appointment as incoming Chair, Dr Robert Morris said, “It is a privilege to be appointed as the SEPAR AG Chair and I look forward to working with the Advisory Group in the coming years. In coming into the post, I would like to thank Professor Richard Thelwell for the excellent work he has carried out since the early days of SEPAR. I look forward to taking over from Richard and to working with the Advisory Group to explore ways to enhance the experience of those on SEPAR. If members have any thoughts or suggestions about the way forward for SEPAR, please get in touch."
