BASES and the International Society of Sport Psychology sign Memorandum of Understanding
22nd November 2024
The International Society of Sport Psychology (ISSP) is the only worldwide organization of scholars devoted explicitly to sport psychology. Members of the Society include researchers, psychologists, educators, coaches, and administrators, as well as students and athletes interested in sport psychology. They are devoted to promoting research, practice, and development in sport psychology throughout the world.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlines the agreed collaborative relationship between the ISSP and BASES for the purposes of enhancing the activities of each organisation and fostering co-operation in international context for the benefit of all professionals involved within the respective organisations.
This MoU aims to develop a mutually respectful relationship that reflects an understanding of each other’s area of remit and expertise and supports practitioners in their field. Both organisations will endeavour to collaborate to further Sport and Exercise Psychology in the UK and globally.
The agreement was signed by Robert J. Schinke, ISSP president and BASES’ Chief Executive Officer, Ian Wilson, and can be read in full on the BASES website.
ISSP President Robert J. Schinke commented:
“The ISSP is excited to sign this new agreement with BASES and pleased to be working in collaboration. This is a wonderful opportunity to build and expand support for psychologists globally. ”
Dr Amy Whitehead Chair of the Psychology Division said:
“On behalf of BASES and the Psychology Division in particular, we are delighted to partner with the ISSP. We hope this partnership will increase the CPD and collaborative opportunities for both organisations members with the aim of making strides in Sport Psychology. I would like to thank Professor Chris Harwood FBASES and Vice-President of ISSP who has worked in bringing the two organisations together.”
