Call out to athletes for online survey on Energy Availability

29th January 2025

BASES Member, Clare Shaw, Senior Lecturer in Sports Science from Oxford Brookes University, is inviting participants to be involved in an important study. The study will be investigating the relationship between low energy availability and dietary and exercise behaviours, and they are looking for insights from athletes. This is to gain a better understanding and hope to improve sports nutrition education and athlete’s health in the future. Your participation would be invaluable.

The survey takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. The survey is completely anonymous, there are some questions of a personal and sensitive nature around eating behaviours and physiological function.

To complete the survey, you must be;

· Aged 18 years and above

· Engaging in sport or exercise

· Not currently undergoing treatment for an eating disorder

If you would like to take part in the survey, please follow this link:

For further information about the research, please contact Clare Shaw, Senior Lecturer in Sports Science, Oxford Brookes University on clareshaw@brookes.ac.uk. Once the findings have been analysed, Clare has agreed to present these findings at a BASES Webinar/coffee morning (details to be finalised).
