Newcastle United FC now an approved partner of the BASES Accreditation Partnership Scheme
6th October 2021
BASES is delighted to announce that Newcastle United FC has recently become an approved partner of our Accreditation Partnership Scheme. They join the English Institute of Sport, Leicester City FC and sportscotland institute of sport as an approved partner organisation.
Simon Tweddle, Head of Academy Sports Science at Newcastle United Football Club said, "We are extremely pleased to have been recognised by BASES as an approved partner to their Accreditation Partnership Scheme. Since the introduction of the Elite Player Performance Plan, BASES and its accreditation process have become central to our daily working practice as we strive to raise standards in the application of sport and exercise science at Newcastle United FC. We look forward to working with BASES to provide a clear development pathway for each of our practitioners and to achieve a high level of quality assurance.”
This scheme enables key employers and deployers in the sport and exercise science sector to help raise standards of practice, support sport and exercise scientists to develop in their careers and support employers to safeguard their employees and clients. Successfully approved organisations employing sport and/or exercise science staff can support their employees to apply for BASES Accreditation via a ‘streamlined’ direct application route. The streamlined accreditation route involves the development and submission of a condensed accreditation application portfolio containing a supervisor report written by an Accredited BASES member or BASES Fellow of that partner organisation.
The Chair of the BASES Accreditation Advisory Group, Dr Sarah Gilchrist FBASES DProf. MSc. BSc. CSi., said, “Following their successful application and approval, we are very happy to welcome Newcastle United FC onto the BASES Accreditation Partnership Scheme. We are looking forward to working more closely with them as they support their practitioners to achieve BASES accredited status, thus ensuring the highest standards of quality assured and impactful practice for their club.”
