Aim of award

This award was established in 2020 by the BASES Board as a way to recognise and honour Prof Winter’s legacy with an emphasis to capture his substantial role in developing and establishing BASES, and his commitment and legacy in supporting and championing Early Career Researchers (ECRs), academics, and practitioners.

Award criteria

To fulfill the general criteria for receiving an Award as per BASES guidelines

To be a BASES student or professional member

To have a BASES conference abstract accepted and deliver oral presentation (i.e. abstract) at BASES Conference (within named presentation slot).

To deliver a follow-up BASES webinar and/or podcast*

To submit a follow-up TSES article (slot pre-allocated)

The recipient will also be offered:

The opportunity to sit on BASES Awards Committee (or similar) for one year

The opportunity to be part of a discussion panel at the Student Conference or a BASES Division Day

To be eligible to use title Professor Edward Winter Early Career Researcher Award Recipient 20xx

To receive BASES annual membership for 12 months

Have Annual and Student Conference fees covered by BASES, including registration and accommodation.

*Within the webinar and/or podcast there should be some reflections on key issues such as ensuring there is ‘science in sports & exercise science’, ‘integrity’, ‘honesty in reporting’, ‘concise writing’. i.e. the fundamentals of our discipline.
