Vacancies within the BASES Heads of Department Advisory Group

Are you passionate about supporting our sport and exercise science Department Heads and Course Leaders? Associate Prof Lance Doggart FBASES will be stepping down as Chair of the BASES Heads of Department Advisory Group (HoD AG) in early 2022 and we are seeking expressions of interest for a new HoD AG Chair plus two new members of the Group.
The Heads of Department Advisory Group is responsible for the technical content and planning of the annual Heads of Department event, which will be in its 18th year in 2022. The Chair of the HoD AG will oversee the Advisory Group that considers key topics, themes, and speakers for each event. Once the Advisory Group has agreed on the specifics, the Chair of the HoD AG will confirm the keynote speakers and invited guest speakers, liaising with them over their involvement in the event delivery. All members of the HoD AG will attend the annual Heads of Department event, with the Chair of the HoD AG co-introducing the day with the BASES Chair. Members of the HoD AG will chair any of the sessions, as appropriate. Following the event, the Chair of the HoD AG will lead the debrief of the event, making recommendations for the successful planning of the next annual event.
As part of the role, the Chair of the HoD AG will also be a member of the BASES Stakeholder Committee, feeding into and out of that Standing Committee about the work of the Advisory Group. In addition to the key duties cited above, the HoD AG Chair will support the BASES Operational Team with any technical queries regarding the HoD Forum, dealing with issues as and when they arise.
The successful applicants will commence the roles straight away to enable a smooth handover from the outgoing Chair, in advance of the next Heads of Department Forum in March 2022.
